In order to deeply study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 and promote students to learn it in classes, Southwest Jiaotong University held a collective course preparation conference themed on Incorporating General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech Spirit at the Grand Gathering Celebrating the Centenary of the CPC into Classes on the morning of July 6, 2021. Gui Fuqiang, Deputy Secretary of the University CPC Committee, Wang Zheng, Executive Deputy Director of the University CPC Committee’s Propaganda Department, and Dai Ning, Deputy Director of the Dean’s Office, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Ai Changfa, Deputy Dean of the Graduate School, Lin Bohai, Dean of the School of Marxism, Liu Zhanxiang, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Marxism, and all ideological and political course professors attended the course preparation conference which was presided over by Secretary Liu Zhanxiang.
In Deputy Secretary Gui Fuqiang’ speech, he pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Grand Gathering Celebrating the Centenary of the CPC was impressive, profound, and rich in content with a strong political, ideological and theoretical nature. The speech was a programmatic document shining with the glory of Marxist truth. Promoting students to learn Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 in classes was an important mission and responsibility for ideological and political theoretical course professors. First of all, ideological and political course professors should improve their political consciousness, and deeply understand and grasp the great significance, rich connotation, core essence, and practical requirements of the speech from a broader perspective in historical and theoretical depth. Secondly, professors must target young people and find their interests to improve their learning efficiency. Thirdly, professors should work hard on the interpretation of preaching to do a good job in the preaching inside and outside campus, and demonstrate the ability of our University. Finally, the professors should use General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit to guide research, optimize the layout of disciplines, especially the layout and development of the discipline of Party building, and enhance the level of discipline construction.
Executive Deputy Director Wang Zheng pointed out that professors of ideological and political courses must be good propagandists. They must contribute to using ideological and political classes to promote General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 among college students as well as promoting it in the public. Deputy Director Dai Ning hoped to integrate General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 with the teaching reform and innovation of ideological and political courses. The quality and effectiveness of teaching could be comprehensively improved by special teaching, establishment of curriculum ideological and political element database, small class teaching, examination reform, etc.
In the presentation session, representatives from all departments gave wonderful lectures focusing on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 and closely combined it with the nature, content and characteristics of the courses taught by the department. The collective course preparation achievements of each department were fully demonstrated.
Professor Luo Min from the Teaching and Research Section of Basic Principles of Marxism said that the course of Basic Principles of Marxism should be based on the macro-history, using the unified narrative method of historical philosophy and political philosophy to make General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 integrate into each chapter and explain clearly the road to the Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation led by the Party.

Professor Han Feng from the Teaching and Research Section of Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Basic Law focused on the teaching contents in the Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Basic Law course and put forward specific approaches and suggestions by sorting out the ideals and beliefs of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on July 1, the socialism rule of law, and national security education.
Professor Ma Xianrui from the Teaching and Research Section of Situation and Policy pointed out that the Situation and Policy course should focus on clarifying the teaching objectives, perfecting the topic design, incorporating the whole process of teaching, and innovating teaching methods to cultivate students’ sense of responsibility and mission of nation-building.
Professor Guo Hailong from the Teaching and Research Section of Ideological and Political Education for Postgraduates used concrete cases to explain the basic concepts, logic, contents, and specific methods of promoting General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 into the Ideological and Political Education for Postgraduates course from four aspects: small topic teaching, integration into specific chapters, combining students’ reality, and examples of facts around.
Professor Yang Huan from the Department of Ideological and Political Education took the Contemporary Chinese Government and Politics course as an example to put forward a series of opinions and suggestions on how to integrate General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech spirit on July 1 into specialized courses and prominent courses’ educational values from emotional goals, knowledge goals, and ability goals.
Finally, Lin Bohai, Dean of the School of Marxism, made a summary of the conference.
